The Blarney Stone, along with partners GFS, Shocktop, Southern Comfort, French’s Mustard, Pepsi & the Gastown BIA, hosts the 3rd annual Gastown BBQ & Chili Festival (Outdoor Street Event)

Saturday August 30th, and Sunday August 31st, 2014.

 The 3rd annual Gastown BBQ & Chili Festival is just around the corner! New developments this year include several new vendors, larger event site, expanded licensed area, a major musical act, and more. This year’s festival will be the biggest and best yet. The Festival will take place on Saturday August 30th and Sunday August 31st.

 12 of Gastown’s best restaurants compete in a cook off that will draw foodies from all walks of life from all over the Lower Mainland. The festival will include fun filled afternoons of eating, dancing to live music, wing eating competitions, street performers, pig roasts, celebrity appearances, and supporting great charitable causes.

 The festivities will take place on the 200 block of Carrall Street, between Water St (Gassy Jack statue of Maple Tree Square) and Cordova Street (passing by the entrance to blood alley). The entire street will be shut down to vehicular traffic, large tents &  BBQs will line the street headed by a large musical stage filled with picnic tables, a beer stand, dancing area, restaurant patios, street performers, and more. 

 Musical Guests this year will feature the Blarney Stone’s very own “the Sheets” in addition to a major headliner that will be announced in the weeks to come.

 This year’s festival will be in support of our supporting charity, “Athletics for Kids www.a4k.com.” Proceeds from the event will be donated directly to this charity. Representatives and volunteers from the charities will be helping work the event and will have information on site.

 There will be sports celebrities, famous chefs, and TV personalities taking part in the festivities, these names to be announced soon.

The Blarney Stone’s mission is to create a positive and sustainable influence in the lives of residents and businesses of the Gastown community, the Downtown Eastside and Vancouver as a whole. The Gastown BBQ and Chili Festival achieves this by bringing the neighbourhood community together to host a city event through food, music, dance & traditional culture.
